Hello, I’m Amélie-Rose
I am a Fashion, Beauty and Lifestyle illustrator living in France. Welcome to my portfolio !
I’ve been creating illustrations using watercolors and digital tools for 12 years. My personal taste for precision and beauty resulted in a sleek stylized, semi-realistic illustration style that is both enticing and eye-catching.
I’m looking for creative freelancing projects with brands, the press, advertisement, and publishing sectors. I’m particularly interested in illustrating brand identities through beautiful custom illustrations for beauty, fashion and food related projects.
Since 2015, I have been creating custom illustrations for private clients.
In parallel, I pursued my academic interests and graduated with a PhD in Neurobiology and Cell Biology in 2023. This rich and demanding experience has taught me to learn new skills quickly, be reliable, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly with my collaborators.
In early 2024, I entered the « International Fashion Illustration Week 2024 » contest held by FIDA. I had the honour to be listed amongst the top 100 fashion illustrators worldwide! :
I’m thrilled to be working on new and exciting creative projects! Let’s collaborate and bring your vision to life!
My tools
My main painting technique is watercolor.
I’ve been using watercolors for the last 12 years. I use Daniel Smith extra-fine watercolors for their quality and beautiful color chart. I also have some Sennelier, Schmincke and Rembrandt tubes, picked for their chroma to complete my custom palette.
My brushes are from different brands such as Raphaël, Betty Hayways, Schimoni and Polina Bright.
Regarding papers, my favorites are from Arches and Fabriano, 100% cotton in both hot and cold pressed finish.
I often sketch and color with my iPad
I invested in an iPad in 2021 and it’s the best purchase I ever made ! I can sketch whenever, wherever I need to.
My go to software is Clip Studio Paint and sometimes I use Procreate to take advantage of some exclusive brushes. Even though watercolor is my favorite coloring technique, I still color some illustrations digitally.
Digital sketching offers unique flexibility and allows for testing compositions and color schemes before painting on paper. It’s very convenient for working with clients. However, I still sketch on paper, it has the most satisfying texture and it’s always great to have a break from screens.
Most of my illustrations are mix media
Although my illustrations are painted at 95% with watercolors, I love to add details with coloured pencils (Polychromos and Luminance) and more recently watercolor pencils (Albrecht Dürer and Museum aquarelle).
I also love adding gold leaf on some details of the artwork to make them pop and add that unique texture.
My creative process
-
I decide what to draw or start from a client’s brief.
Then, I brainstorm ideas and do an iconographic research.
It allows me to grasp the essence of the subject and gives me many ideas for composition.
-
Then I start sketching , doing 2 or 3 different compositions to choose the one I like the best / submit to the client for approval.
-
Since my favorite technique is watercolor, I print my sketch and transfer it to watercolor paper with a light table.
This give me the cleanest base for my painting.
-
Now is time to paint !
I usually do 95% of the illustration with watercolors, then I evaluate if some elements need a colour pencil layer or some extra additions (gold leaf or shimmer paints).
-
The final step is to scan my painting and import it on my illustration software for cleaning, color corrections and to fit the client’s requirements.
-
I send the illustration by e-mail according to the client’s requirements (resolution, size, etc.)
